Moombahton was an accident that the dance music industry was waiting for. Moombahton, a relatively new genre, has taken the scene by storm.

Moombahton could be defined as: electronic music with a bpm between 108 & 115. For any of you who do not know, bpm indicates beats per minutes. To put it in perspective regular house music is typically between 125and130beats per minute & dubstep is normally pretty close to 140beats per minute (well technically 70 for the reason that it’s half time, although do not worry about it). That signifies that Moombahton is slower vibe and has a beat that you just are obliged to move to. It is heavily influenced by Dutch house, Latin percussion, chopped up acapellas, enourmous build-ups, together with many other genres. Should a Moombahton song have a hard wobbly bassline it is mainly named Moombahcore.

Dave Nada is the man who’s credited with creating Moombahton. As the story goes, in 2009 Dave was playing a Latin house party in Washington DC. The individuals wanted to hear reggaeton, which primarily runs at 110bpm, but instead Dave threw on a few Dutch house tracks, most notably Chuckie’s tune “Moombah”. Nada slowed these tunes down to a reggaeton beat per minute & therefore Moombahton was born.

Since then, a plethora of producers have come out with new Moombahton. 1 fault with this new genre is that many DJs haven’t been original at all with the music, and instead have just edited old songs by slowing them down to 108-115 bpm. While some of these edits are well made, where the producer has added his one of a kind touch and reinvented it in to a unique new tune, a big majority of these songs took most likely five minutes to develop and are quite literally the slowed down version of somebody else’s song. It is too bad that the original producers are obliged to deal with this sort of copying.

Regardless of this downfall, moombahton is here to stay. It has jumped in popularity since its inception and there are remarkable new tunes being released every day. The accident that began moombahton is more than welcome in the electronic dance music world & is a minor revolution in the industry. .
